CIA Medical Mission to Push Through in 2014

It appears this corner spoke too soon on the issue that the stringent guidelines approved by the Department of Health regarding Foreign Surgical and Medical Missions (FSMMs) has discouraged US-based missioners from pushing through with their missions.

The Catanduanes International Association (CIA) has scheduled its medical mission to this province in 2014, not this year. According to California-based Myrna Rodriguez-Walsh, CIA president for 2012-2015, the CIA medical mession is scheduled to be held on February 10 -14, 2014, at the Eastern Bicol Medical Center in Virac. Long-time Christmas Cheers backer Dr. Oscar Enriquez, is the chairman and Dr. Erlinda Velasco and Dr. Santos Zafe are the co-chairs of the mission. The CIA president said the medical mission is usually held every three years.
