Cong. CS Bares Priority Infra Projects for 2012

Nearly half of the P20 million allocated by Congressman Cesar Sarmiento for priority infrastructure projects will go to the construction of 11 new multi-purpose buildings as well as the completion of previous MPBs and rehabilitation of similar existing buildings.

The 11 new MPBs are to be built at Datag Central Elementary School in Caramoran, Gigmoto Rural Development High School, San Jose National High School in Viga, Buyo Integrated School in Virac, Catanduanes National High School in Virac, the CSC Panganiban Campus, barangay Sta. Rosa in Viga, Magnesia del Norte in Virac, Palta ES in Virac, Macutal ES in Baras, and barangay Putting Baybay in San Andres.

Slated for completion are MPBs in barangay Eastern Poblacion in Baras, Alicia NHS in Panganiban, barangay Balatohan in San Miguel, San Miguel RDHS, barangay F. Tacorda Village in Virac, Tilod E/S in Baras, and Tambongon NHS in Viga. To undergo rehabilitation are those in barangays Calatagan Proper and Salvacion in Virac.

The list provided by the solon’s office also shows that just over 31 percent, or P6,250,000.00, has been set aside for the concreting of roads, apportioned in amounts ranging from P100,000 to P500,000, as follows: barangays Timbaan, San Jose, Barihay, Cabcab, Esperanza and Tominawog in San Andres; Cagdarao in Panganiban; Salvacion, District 1 and Buhi in San Miguel; Batohonan, Del Pilar, Ananong, Almojuela, and Begonia E/S in Viga; San Isidro Village, Cabihian, Danicop, Batag, Calampong, Balite, Bigaa and Sto. Nino in Virac; and, Guinobatan in Bato.

Water system projects, worth a total of P2.4 million, will be built in JMA, Genitligan and Nagbarorong in Baras; Bagumbayan in Bato; Mabini in Caramoran; Sioron and District II in Gigmoto; and, Bagawang and Cobo in Pandan.

On the other hand, drainage systems costing P500,000 each will be constructed in Codon in San Andres, District II in San Miguel, and Calatagan Proper in Virac. School buildings will be rehabilitated at Tubli ES and Tubli NHS in Caramoran, and Balite ES in Virac.

The ‘hard’ projects are Cong. Sarmiento’s commitment to the local government units and their constituencies based on his frequent consultation visits to the respective areas.

Legazpi City (12 August) -- Bicol Region's economy grew by 8.2 per cent in 2009, twice its pace in 2008 and much faster than the 1.1 per cent growth at the national level, reports the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) in Bicol. A Viracnon has done it again. For four Sundays of September, law graduates undergo the most important rite of passage in the legal profession: the BAR examinations. The Bar is a rigorous test of eight subjects, each testing the graduates’ knowledge, reasoning and writing abilities. One of the examiners in the 2008 Bar Exam is Atty. Juanito Gianan Arcilla of Marcelo Alberto, Virac. Atty. Arcilla prepared the Bar questions on Political and International Law. The said exam consisted of the following subjects and its corresponding weighted average: Political and International Law (15%), Labor and Social Legislation (10%), Civil Law (15%), Taxation (15%), Mercantile Law (15%), Criminal Law (10%), Remedial Law (20%), and Legal Ethics and Practical Exercises (5%) for a total of 100%. Bicol Plantations to Receive Grant Money - BM

SORSOGON CITY—Abaca and coconut plantations in the Bicol region have been identified and placed by the Department of Agriculture (DA) under its technology commercialization (TechCom) program which is funded by a grant from the government of Japan. The grant, according to DA regional executive director Jose Dayao, was under Japan’s 2KR (Kennedy Round)-Grant Assistance for Underprivileged Farmers (GAUF) that aims to support a range of diverse projects that adopt appropriate technology for commercial use. Last year, the Tokyo approved a ¥300-million grant under 2KR- GAUF for the Philippines to help tillers who can barely meet their families’ basic needs to raise their income and yield per hectare. The grant equivalent to $2.59 million would benefit small farmers in the country’s poorest provinces, according to Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap. Col. Salvador Rodolfo, Sr. (born 7 February 1919) is a Filipino War Hero who liberated the Island Province of Catanduanes in the Philippines from the clutches of the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II. He was known in Catanduanes as “Phantom” or the “Man who Never Dies” based on the comic book hero created by Lee Falk in 1936. He organized the Catanduanes Liberation Forces (CLF), the guerilla unit that paved the way for the liberation of Catanduanes in 1945. The CLF fought the Japanese without any external help. They were fearless and fought so hard that the Japanese forces were virtually destroyed before even the American forces, the supposed liberators, arrived in Catanduanes in 1945.
