A daughter of Virac placed 9th in the Nurse Licensure Examination given by the Professional Regulation Commission’s Board of Nursing last July 2010, with 82 graduates of the Catanduanes State Colleges also passing the exam.
Jamela Montoya Arcilla, a 2010 BS Nursing cum laude graduate of Far Eastern University, garnered a rating of 84.80 percent to land in the top ten list. Only 37,679 out of 91,008 (41.40%) passed the nursing board exam.
A daughter of Atty. Felipe Panti Arcilla Jr. of Gogon Sirangan, Virac, and the former Isabelita Lulu Montoya of Sta. Ana, Pampanga, Jamela is a graduate of Virac Central Elementary School (2002) and Catanduanes National High School (2006). She was also the Clinical Excellence Awardee during the pinning ceremonies of the FEU Institute of Nursing Batch 2010.
Also hurdling the nursing board on his first try is Eldon Valeza Tabuzo, son of Engr. and Mrs. Elmo Tabuzo of Calatagan, Virac. A product of the Catanduanes State Colleges Elementary Laboratory School and CSC Laboratory High School, Eldon finished his nursing course at Southeast Asian College (UDMC) in Manila this year.
Eighty of the 98 first-time takers (81.63%) from the CSC College of Health Sciences passed the exam while only two of the 16 repeaters (12.50%) did so, for an overall performance of 71.93%. This placed the CSC at No. 30 in the ranking of top performing schools with more than 100 examinees. Bicol University Legaspi City took the top spot in the Bicol region at No. 21 as 121 of its 151 examinees hurdled the board test (80.13%). Ateneo de Naga was at third spot in Bicol at No. 32 overall, with 97 of 138 examinees passing the board.
The oathtaking ceremony of the successful examinees as well as the previous ones who have not taken their Oath of Professional will be held before the Board onSeptember 20 and 21, 2010, with morning (8:00 A.M.) and afternoon (1:00 P.M.) sessions at the SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City.
