AAGAPAY Conducts Coastal Clean-up in 6 Virac Barangays - CT

The non-government organization AAGAPAY Catanduanes, together with the Catanduanes Sagip Kalikasan Peoples oOrganization, inc. and AAGAPAY Bicol Youth (ABY), Inc., conducted a coastal clean-up at the shorelines of five barangays in Virac recently.

The clean-up at the beaches of Conception, San Pablo, Salvacion, Sta.Cruz, Rawis and Francia was in support of the AAGAPAY Simultaneous Nationwide Coastal Clean-Up Drive "OPLAN KALIKASAN COASTAL" on February 14, 2010 in response to the prevailing effects of climate change and addressing environment protection issues in order to contribute to the government’s effort in environmental care and preservation programs. The event was kicked off by registration and opening program at the Virac town plaza spearheaded by Abdulrahman Villaluz, spokesperson of AAGAPAY Catanduanes and chairman of Catanduanes Sagip Kalikasan Peoples Organization, Inc.

The AAGAPAY Catanduanes Council were joined by more than 200 participants from DENR/CENRO, CDA/ROTC, PCGA/PCG, Catanduanes Provincial Police Office, Virac Municipal Police Station, 83rd IB (PA), Catanduanes Muslim Community, Kabalikat Civicom, Radyo ng Bayan, Guardian Reformist Group International, AZOFS, PNRC Catanduanes Chapter, and barangay officials of the five barangays.
