Virac Airport Expansion

US$3-M Set Aside For Virac Airport Expansion The national government has reportedly secured a US$3 million grant for the expansion of Virac airport as a key component of the tourism development program of the Camarines Sur provincial government. This was announced last week by Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) Assistant Secretary Cesar V. Sarmiento during an appearance at a gathering of the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) Catanduanes Chapter in Virac. Assec. Sarmiento revealed that the positive development was spurred by the effort of the administration of Camarines Sur Governor L-Ray Villafuerte to secure funds for the construction of an international airport at Caramoran town. Villafuerte’s proposal, however, has been met with stiff opposition from Caramoan residents, notably one of its native sons, Msgr. Second Placer 2008 Civil Engineering Board

Virac Daughter 2nd placer In 2008 CE Board Exam A daughter of Virac garnered a share of second place in the civil engineering board examinations conducted by the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) last month. Raisa Lleue Molina Curativo, 22, got a rating of 98.95 percent, reportedly the highest ever received by a civil engineering graduate of the Bicol University-Legazpi where she finished her course early this year. She is one of the seven examinees who got the same rating. Two of her classmates also placed third with a rating of 97.90 percent, including BU cum laude Robert Christine Niebres. The topnotcher is the eldest daughter of DPWH Engineer II Nestor M. Curativo and provincial nutrition officer Marites Molina-Curativo of Imperial Homes Subdivision, San Isidro Village, Virac.
